How To Throw An EASY Pirate Party

Throwing a Pirate Party would have to be one of the easiest themes we can think of here at The Vinyl Order.

We’re all about ease, budget and a fair bit of focus on reducing waste and repurposing those items that are leftover.

While we have the fancy machines to cut your Cake Toppers & Cupcake toppers, you don’t need a whole lot of jazz to pull the whole Pirate Party theme off.

Here are some items which are cost-friendly, easy to source and look SO good!

Chocolate Coins – These are a better option than plastic coins as they double as treats. That being said, some kids are avid roleplayers and those Plastic Pirate coins really go a long way. Pop into your local dollar store or Kmart, you’re bound to find some chocolate coins there.

Black Table Covers – You can usually pick these up at Big W or Kmart for under $3. Spread some gold coins across the table to really pull it together!

Balloons – Latex Balloons are fairly reasonable in price, and these days you can get packs of solid colours. Black, Brown and Red look amazing for a Pirate Party theme. If you can get your hands on some Metallic gold ones, this really adds some Pirate BLING to the mix.

If you’re going BIG, we have some Pirate Ship Foil Ballons which come in packs of three.

Huge Pirate Ship Balloons!

Pirate Party Flags – DIY Flags are super easy! On an a4 paper, print out a Pirate Flag design and attach it to a long Kebab Stick or a Balloon Stick. Make sure you cut down the sharp end so it’s safe to be left around the kiddies.

Music – Get the tunes pumping! There is some great Pirate Themed Kids’ music on Youtube. For background theme music, Epic Pirate Music by Brandon Fiechter’s Music is perfect.

These are just a few things that are super easy to get organised and will keep the party on budget. We’re always available to chat if you need some advice. Message us any time!

5 Fun Alternatives To The Baby On Board Sticker

If you want a modernized version of the classic Baby On Board Sticker, you have come to the right place. We have a selection of premium vinyl decals cut right here in Australia.

What is the point of a Baby On Board sticker?

The Stickers or Vinyl Cut Decals illustrate a “baby on board” to let other drivers know you are carrying precious cargo.

The Baby On Board sticker has quite the origin story behind it.

The car decal made its debut in 1986, it was greeted as a fad. 35 years later, the ’80s babies who first rode around in vehicles adorned with the signs are parents themselves. – (You can read more about this in the Washington Post)

For years the sticker has attracted criticism that it provides a false sense of safety.

The article above makes a great point about the role of a baby on board sticker being helpful in an emergency. If a first responder arrives on the scene of an accident, they know a baby may have been thrown from the car or be present in the wreckage.

There’s no definitive case for whether these stickers work or not. There have been some interesting theories about attracting driver empathy through the popular warning sign. Kellie Scott from the ABC did some research and published Susan Teerds’s (KidSafeQLD CEO) perspective …

“It might not work in a lot of respects, but as long as it doesn’t obscure your vision, why wouldn’t you use it as a little precaution?” (ABC Article: Do Baby On Board Signs Work?)

Wild Things On Board

Where the Wild Things Are is a popular children’s book published in 1963, it has since been made into a fantasy adventure drama film.

Maurice Sendak’s picture book faced intense criticism after its publication in 1963. Psychologists labeled the book “too dark”, and the book was banned in some areas of the US. Aussie Millennials will remember the book well as it was quite popular here.
